Nurses for Newborns (NFN) provides a safety net for families who are expecting a baby or have an infant at home. Services are provided through home visiting by experienced, registered nurses who provide healthcare and resources, screen for common concerns, and teach positive parenting skills. The overall goal is to prevent infant mortality, and to promote safe, healthy pregnancy and infancy. NFN provides services to babies who are born with medical problems, born to teen moms or born to mothers with disabilities/mental health concerns, or who are born into families who do not have money for basic necessities. Families enrolled in NFN services are assisted whenever possible with donated materials needed for safe care. In addition to professional staff, NFN welcomes hundreds of volunteers each year who help manage the logistics of this work.
